Job Description:
TOP FIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
-Input prescription and verify appropriate information.
-Make outbound calls to patients, pharmacists, doctor's offices and
insurance companies.
-Successfully resolve claim issues, coverage verification,
adjudication issues, etc. in a timely manner.
-Process 20 prescriptions per hour on a daily basis with 98%
accuracy rate.
-Work with management to continually improve performance and
customer satisfaction.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
-Pharmacy General knowledge of medical terminology and
abbreviations.
-Good mathematical skills in order to make basic calculations.
-Enter prescriptions - Typing 45- 50 WPM.
-General knowledge of all state and federal regulatory
requirements, i.e. HIPAA Medicare Part D, State Board of
Pharmacy.Technology.
-Basic knowledge of MS windows operating system.
-Basic to intermediate skills using MS Office applications (MS Word
and MS Excel at a minimum#.
-Experience using email systems - MS Outlook or Outlook Express
preferred.
-Experience working with on-screen document images preferred.
-Experience working with computer based phone applications
preferred.
-Exceptional PC skills-ability to toggle between multiple computer
applications. Ability to enter prescriptions in a pharmacy software
application.Language/Communication.
-Ability to communicate effectively in-person and in writing.
-Ability to communicateeffectively on the telephone, with tact and
finesse without becoming defensive, confused or upsetting the
customer - excellent command of customer service etiquette
skills?
-Bi-lingual and multi-lingual skills a plus.
-Strong organizational, detail and follow-up skills in order to
achieve stated goals.
-Ability to identify issues and resolve customer inquires and
complaints accurately and promptly.
-Ability to solve problems for which standards solutions may not be
available; can identify problem and deter best solution.
-Ability to handle multiple activities and deadlines.
-Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
-Ability to work in an organized and calm fashion in a busy
environment.
-Ability to perform tasks or other activities with limited
opportunities for deviation from approved practices and
procedures.
-Ability to provide excellent customer service while maintaining a
relatively high production rate.
-Ability to listen and learn new ideas and approaches.
-Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules - 2nd shift and
weekends based on business needs Ability to rotate job
functions.
-Ability to sit for long periods of time, up to eight #8)
hours.
-Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
-Ability to work in a customer driven.
EDUCATION
-High School or GED.
-Current California Pharmacy Tech registration. National
Certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
-6 months-3 years retail, mail order, long-term care hospital
experience as a Pharmacy Technician - includes experience in
dealing with:- Insurance benefits authorization- Adjudications
issues- Coverage verification- Reimbursement issues- Claim
processing - Cash Handling - pharmacy register- Data entry of
prescriptions- Dispensing prescriptions 6 months-3 years front
office customer service experience in an organization providing
superior customer service handling:- Walk-in customers picking up
prescription orders- Answering in-bound calls from customers
regarding phone orders, pick-up times, non-medical questions on
medications, general inquires.- Outbound calls to customers, doctor
offices, third party administrators, coordinating insurance
billing, verifying coverage, resolving insurance coverage
issues.
