Description:The Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing, Fan
Engagement, and Revenue Strategy is responsible for driving fan
engagement and maximizing revenue across USD athletics events
through outreach initiatives, promotional campaigns, market
analysis, and ticket sales.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements athletic department marketing and
promotional campaigns:
- Designs and conducts marketing campaigns to promote USD
athletics and brand.
- Implements awareness initiatives across USD's physical and
digital channels, including print advertising, outdoor signage,
vehicle wraps, television and radio ads, social media, digital
platforms, and other targeted promotional avenues.
- Coordinates the design for graphics and creative content.
- Manages the budget for all advertising and promotion
initiatives.
- Collaborates with University Marketing & Communications,
directs messaging standards for athletics and campus-wide
partnerships.
- Works closely with all student organizations to elevate campus
engagement.
- Develops and implements season ticket, individual and group
sales campaigns:
- Designs and oversees a comprehensive outreach calendar,
managing implementation through direct reports and team
members.
- Solicits group ticket sales and experiences to increase
attendance and community involvement.
- In conjunction with the Ticketing team, supports the execution
of all ticket sales campaigns, ensuring alignment with revenue
goals.
- Pursues advertising and promotion opportunities across digital
platforms and other media channels.
- Spearheads strategic community outreach through grassroots
marketing initiatives and committee leadership to strengthen
support for athletic events and cultivate lasting fan
relationships.
- Data reporting and analysis to support marketing and revenue
goals:
- Collects, analyzes, and reports data on outreach performance,
targeted campaigns, and fan engagement to inform
decision-making.
- Tracks key metrics related to revenue generation, ticket sales,
and attendance to ensure alignment with the department's strategic
goals.
- Develops regular reports and dashboards to communicate outreach
progress and revenue outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.
- Leverages analytics tools to identify trends, forecast demand,
and set benchmarks for successful fan engagement and
revenue-generating initiatives.
- Oversees game presentation, fan experience, and manages sponsor
fulfillment:
- Leads the planning and execution of all game-day presentation
elements to enhance fan engagement and create a memorable in-venue
experience.
- Facilitates special events and engagement activities to foster
community involvement and build fan loyalty.
- Manages sponsor fulfillment by ensuring all sponsor obligations
and activations are met.
- Coordinates and oversees all digital and physical signage,
advertising, and game program ads, ensuring accuracy in branding
and timely production.
- Supervises public address systems, message boards, and video
board announcements to maintain a cohesive and engaging fan
experience.
- Provides sponsor recognition throughout events to maximize
visibility and reinforce partnerships.
- Supervision:
- Through direct reports, oversees and supervises the Spirit Team
Coaches (Cheer and Dance), Pep Band Director, Bull Pit (Student
Spirit Organization), graduate and undergraduate interns, casual
workers and student workers.
- Leads strategic recruiting, interviewing, and application
processes to elevate the internship program, aiming to expand its
reach and cultivate campus-wide spirit and engagement.
- Assigns and delegates duties to interns, casual workers and
student workers.
- Oversees all activities and projects of the Spirit Teams, Pep
Band, Bull Pit, interns, casual workers and student workers.
- Trains workers to be game management assistants, and supervises
them at games.
- Evaluates interns each semester for grades and/or
feedback.
- Provides support to athletic department special events:
- Assists Development team with fundraising events.
- Works with campus-wide partners to develop and execute
Athletics events to promote programs.Special Conditions of
Employment:
- Availability to work long hours, nights and weekends.
- Willingness to travel to away contests, NCAA event and WCC
meetings, when appropriate and necessary.
- Ability to attend on- and off-campus events
required.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Heartsaver CPR/AED certification required within six weeks of
employment.
- California driver's license required within six weeks of
employment.Background check: Successful completion of a
pre-employment background check.Degree Verification Requirement:
Persons offered employment in this position will be required to
provide official education transcripts for degree verification
purposes.Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, communications or
public relations.
- Three years of experience in marketing and promotions and/or
related field required. Four or more years strongly preferred.
- Team-oriented individual with willingness to take initiative
and desire to work in collegiate athletics.
- Excellent written, interpersonal and communications skills
required.Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations strongly
preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite and other graphic
design programs desirable.$6250-6833.33 per month; Excellent
