Job Description:
Location: Torrey Pines
Skill set: 7+ years of experience, Support Day-today operations and
support. Experience with administering Firewalls, web security
gateways, IDS/IPS.
Summary
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for
monitoring and the administration of security controls to prevent
unauthorized access, modification, and/or unauthorized disclosure
of company information. May participate in developing programs and
processes to ensure security protocols are not compromised.
Participates in administering security policies to control access
to systems. May providing technical education to professional or
technical staff.
Essential Functions
1. Monitors and manages security devices such as Firewalls,
Intrusion Prevention Systems, VPN devices, and Security Event
Management systems.
2. Provides technical support and consultation as it relates to
network security configurations.
3. Provides fault isolation and resolution for security devices and
escalates when necessary.
4. Ensures compliance with security policies and standards.
5. May provide information security awareness training to
employees, contractors, and other third parties.
6. May be a point of contact with suppliers and vendors.
7. Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other
applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted
on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in
accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Essential Qualifications
Typically requires an associate’s degree or certificate in a
related discipline and three or more years of progressive
professional security administration experience in an information
technology department. Equivalent professional experience in
corporate information technology security may be substituted in
lieu of education. Must demonstrate a basic understanding of
information security administration principles, concepts,
practices, and standards including but not limited to, firewalls,
intrusion protection and detection, network devices, TCP/IP and
related internet protocols. Must have organizational skills
including scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments
to meet project milestones or established completion dates. Must be
customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to identify issues,
analyze and interpret data and develop solutions to a variety of
non-routine technical problems; (2) good analytical, verbal and
written communication skills to accurately document, report, and
present findings; (3) the ability to maintain the confidentiality
of sensitive information; (4) the ability to initiate, plan, and
manage projects; (5) the ability to represent the company as a
knowledgeable resource on external projects ; and (6) strong
computer skills. Ability to work independently or in a team
environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours
and travel as required.
